Question:
I am due to recertify my credential before November 30, 2022. What is the soonest I can start the process?
Answer:
You may submit your application no earlier than 6 months in advance of your lapse date. So you can apply anytime after June 1, 2022.
Question:
I am choosing the Recertify by Training Pathway, what do I need to do to recertify?
Answer:
We will require proof of course completion of your selected course. Any course tuition you paid does not include the recertification fees.
You must also apply online with NAWCO for recertification and pay the $350 + $30 recertification and application fee. Click the APPLY ONLINE link or the blue Apply Online button at the top of the homepage. You will create a new account for the Recertification application. (Choose the DWC Recertification Application)
Question:
I chose the Education Pathway for my initial DWC certification. May I use the continuing education contact hours I received from that initial course towards my recertification contact hours if I choose to Recertify by Continuing Education?
Answer:
No. Continuing education contact hours and/or CME’s must be accumulated after your initial certification date for use toward recertification.
Question:
If I am choosing the Recertify by the Training Pathway, how soon may I take a diabetic wound management course?
Answer:
You cannot start any course, sooner than 6 months in advance of your lapse date.
Question:
I am going to recertify by Continuing Education. How do I submit my approved contact hours?
Answer:
You must first apply with NAWCO for recertification and pay the $350 + $30 recertification and application fee. Click the APPLY ONLINE link or the blue Apply Online button at the top of the homepage. You will create a new account for the Recertification application. (Choose the DWC Recertification Application) Once you have completed the online Recertification application and paid your fee, you will need to complete the Continuing Education Verification Record with your specific contact hour information. Save the document and email to recertification@www.nawccb.org
Question:
I am going to recertify by Examination. What if I don’t pass the exam the first time? Do I have to pay again?
Answer:
If you do not pass the exam the first time, you may take it again. You have up to 4 total exam attempts before your credential expires. There is a $380 fee for each exam attempt.
If you do not pass the exam before your credential expires, you must apply to reinstate your credential by examination, which requires a $380 reinstatement fee and a $300 late fee. You have 2 years and/or 4 exam attempts from the date of expiration to pass the exam and reinstate your credential. For more information, refer to the DWC Candidate Examination Handbook.
